Well I made it through day 2

but now I'm off the detox. Embarrassing, know.

I guess one of the reasons I write this little bloggy is to report on the strange, poorly timed occurrences that frequent my life. The following is a prime example.

I made it through yesterday (day 2) pretty well. I  was even able to make Matt Shepherd's pie for dinner without breaking. The only thing that was weird  were these cold-like symptoms that I mentioned in yesterday's post. To be honest, I'd been feeling like crap since before the detox and figured juicing just made the symptoms worse for the first few days. Cut to me at 4:30 this AM, doubled over with a sinus headache and congestion that was less than cute.

As I drove into work today the headache was so awful that the road became blurry so I booked it to my doctor's office. As a quick sidenote, something I've never mentioned in this forum is that I'm prone to sinus infections and have had one on and off since September (why I've waited this long to go to my PCP about it is beyond me. lesson. learned), Long story short, now I'm on what can only be described as horse pills and have steroid spray for my nose which causes "minor nosebleeds". Lovely. When I asked the doc if I could continue on my detox she snorted at the question and I left the office slightly defeated and slightly  thrilled that I was now allowed to inhale some of the delicious mango I picked up at Trader Joe's yesterday.

So I'm sorry guys, I'm going to make another go of it after the holidays. My summary of the experience (the 2 whole days I made it through) is actually positive! I was definitely feeling less bloated and can confidently say the juice filled me up. I was never hungry, though I did realize I just missed the social aspect of eating-i.e. walking with friends to get candy in the afternoon, grabbing a latte in the morning, etc.

So let's all get through Christmas and I'll go back to posting on things like cookie recipes then I'll give another wack at 'er once we hit the new year. OK time to crawl back into my sick bed. I bid you all Adieu.
