Me and My New Gap Shirtdress: A Love Story

When perusing Gaps' mayjah end of summer sale last week, I "accidentally" stumbled upon their new arrivals section. Alas, I developed deep and meaningful feelings for their new line of shirtdresses. As I stood in awe of the different colors and textures that the dresses come in, it became abundantly clear that the "light blue stripe" version must be mine. The fit of the dress is perfect, just the right length and even makes me appear to have a waist (not always an easy feat on a girl who is almost 5'2" and pretty much all rib-cage/squish in the center).

Best part of my pretty new dress is that she'll not only get me through the rest of the summer, but she's pretty much the definition of fall's upcoming stripe-a-palooza trend. Unable to contain my excitement, I took to polyvore.com to incorporate my new favorite closet-staple into my ultimate summer and fall outfits.

Glitter Thursday- Bedroom Envy

Next week I decided to take Thursday and Friday off from work in order to get some tasks checked off the "to-do" list that's been ever-growing. The list is a mixture of activities that I can't wait to do ( i.e.go to the beach and finally read my copy of Catching Fire) and some are daunting ( i.e. sign up for GMATS and let the studying and grad school research begin). One task in particular stands out due to the fact that I've been meaning to get around to it FOREVER.

I'd like to give my room a little makeover. I'm thinking I'll move the furniture around so it all flows a little better and  add a little "shine" to it. I've posted some of my favorite glitzy bedroom inspiration below. Before and after pics of my bedroom project to come!
Turquoise + rosy metallic accents

Warm neutrals + crystal chandelier

Beachy + touches of luster via the mirror and side table lamps

Glitter comforter? HELLO!

gorgeously subtle blinged out wall + shimmery gold chandelier

 soft, shimmery lights

neutrals + a punch of metallic shine

glam "grown-up" way of mixing pink and sparkle

glimmer lights + quilt + art

color inspiration

wouldn't mind feeling like I sleep in Versailles every night

Tufted headboard + mirror + fluffy throw

Sometimes you have to pour seltzer into a glass of cheap rosé and pretend it's a fancy cocktail

Did I mention that if you serve it in a plastic martini glass and instagram the bejesus out of it then you receive extra points?

Yesterday, one of my favorite people in the whole world was having a less than stellar day. She was feeling down on herself and when one of my gorgeous, uber-intelligent, and talented friends is in distress, I don't take the issue too lightly. Thus, it was time to pull out the big guns in the form of sushi and cheap cocktails. Sometimes giggling over "Dance Moms" and dinner is the only medicine for the man getting you down.

For this friend (and you know who you are)- Chin up girl! You're awesome!

Glitter Thursday- July 4th

Per usual I found a reason to glitter the living heck out of something… In this case, the excuse I used was America’s birthday and the victims were my pointer fingers. Even as I sit here and type, I keep getting distracted by my blinged-out digits, thus losing all train of thought. Totally worth it.

In other news, this year’s 4th of July festivities were perfect. Much of my holiday was spent at my parent’s new condo overlooking Boston Harbor and let me tell you, there is NOTHING in life to complain about when you’ve got family, friends, too much delicious summery food & drink, glittery tall ships, the sea breeze, and front row seats to an incredible fireworks display.

I love you summertime…
